Waiting on the hero.  I have heard so many dates for the release. Now it has been put on the back burner again. I wish they would just give a date or say we do not know. I just don't like getting the run around. My 8330 is on its last legs.

I'm also awaiting the Hero.  I have yet to hear that it has been placed on a back burner.  Yesterday, while watching the Ole Miss Auburn game, I saw a Cellular South commercial advertising an "unnamed" Android based phone.

I went into the Cellular South store on Friday and the customer service agent told me that there was a stack of HTC Heroes in the back and they were just waiting on the go from corporate to begin selling them.  I was told that November 2nd (tomorrow) was their scheduled release date in the system.  I'd be really excited to see it released tomorrow, but we all know how long Cellular South "promised" the Blackberry Tour was coming out the following week.

I talked to a rep fri and he told me that it  will be a few days before release. I asked why he said software problems. But I can call another rep and get a different answer very frustration to say the least. I will wait on my e-mail confirm stating it is in.

I'm really hoping it comes out on either Monday or Tuesday.  I've only heard great things about the phone. The store model that I was able to play with was very responsive.  The store customer service representative was very excited to show me the many android-only features that the phone offered and "assured" me of a release.

With that being said, my biggest complaint with Cellular South is the lack of release dates on their devices.

I agree Jbell. I do wish cell south would give release dates and better train their employees. And also keep newer phones in stock. Maybe with the new fcc ruling cell south will be able to compete better, and have the newest phones in stock. With that being done cell south will put all the others to shame.

Very true, Mopar!  Cellular South has the potential to be a major player.  They're already the 12th largest mobile service provider in the US.  The only problem is that they're network isn't truly "theirs" outside of the local calling area.  Because of this, they can't provide service to people living outside of the immediate area that they offer service.  This is probably one of the few times that being a Mississippian has worked out to my advantage.

If you all hear anything new about the hero let me know and I will do the same. It is kind of hard keeping up with news due to the fact I work nights and twelve hr shifts.

Also if anyone wants to know about any hero accessory's like cases, screen protectors, etc let me know.  I know a company on e-bay that is good to deal with and has nice products. I have mine ready just waiting on the phone.

What is the name of this company.  I would like to look at their prices along with the Cellular South prices for comparison.  I'm also curious about the time it would take for me to receive the case and the cost of the shipping.

The release was planned for tomorrow, for sure.  I'm not sure of the exact detals, but what I've heard, from someone on the inside, is that the shipment of phones from overseas has been delayed.  Looks like it will be around the 5th now.  From what I understand, the 'software problem' is just bad information, probably not intentional... but just some employee trying to make an excuse.  I hope my info is accurate.  I have no way of knowing for sure.  I hope it's this week, cause I can hardly stand it anymore!

This is what I just pulled off of crackberry: I heard an update that we will have the phones in inventory on monday but will not be able to sell them until thursday. but its just a rumor we might still be able to sell them when we get them on monday.

I'm going to call Csouth in the morning and go to our local store and see what they say. I will post the update I get.

In all actuality, though I'm really excited about the HTC Hero, I'm fortunate for the Thursday releade date (if this date holds true).  I have a test on Tuesday and a couple of papers due by Friday.  This will give me more time to get this stuff done!

My 8:15 AM update. I called the *611 and asked the question: Do you know the official release date on the HTC Hero? The young lady stated it was officially going to be released on Nov 4th. I repeated, Nov 4th for sure? She stated yes.

PS: I also asked this on the website support form (waiting on the reply), and I'm headed to the store at 9AM.
Hope they stick to it. Thats it for now.
