HTC Sync™ lets you synchronize Outlook and Windows Address Book
(Outlook Express), contacts and calendar events on your PC with your
phone. It also lets you install third-party Android applications on the
phone, and the Mobile Network sharing function as well.
I'm a little anxious to see what this software is like. I've only seen a little info about it, and it didn't sound very promising. Time will tell.
I agree asmith001, but what I really want to try is the Mobile Network sharing function. That would be a great feature if it works on csouth.

Haven't seen info on this, please explain.
hit the link above, but from what I'm gathering (may not be available on csouth) you can tether your phone to your laptop and sharing your phones data (Internet) with your laptop for Internet access. Again I dont know if this will work with csouth or if it will violate your user agreement.
Ran into an aggravating problem with HTC Sync. Now, I'm reluctant to use it at the risk of losing/duplicating contacts. I synced with Outlook the day I got it. Today I tried to re-sync and it duplicated 37 of my contacts. I believe the problem is that I edited 37 contacts on the phone (adding pictures, linking with facebook, adding addresses, etc.) since the original sync, and the software is reading them as new contacts and bringing them into Outlook as a new contact. Then, the software reads the new ones in Outlook and duplicates them on the phone. Very annoying. With 479 contacts, I don't like wondering what's going to happen. It doesn't even ask you to confirm the changes (like BBDM does).
Ideally, I'd like to keep the phone synced with google for contacts and calendar, then have the computer sync with google. Unfortunately that only works for the calendar. What is everyone else doing?
Now that I have a grasp of how contacts are managed, I'll share how I am syncing / managing mine...
Previously, I managed all 480 (or so) of my contacts in Outlook, syncing them with my blackberry. It was very simple and reliable. Now, after seeing how the Hero manages contacts and handles syncing, I have found way to manage them that seems more appropriate for me. I separated my contacts into personal and business, since this is also how I keep my email and everything else. I exported all of my personal contacts to my Google account. Then I deleted my personal contacts from Outlook. Now, when I sync my business contacts in Outlook with my phone via HTC Sync, the Hero displays them as "Phone" contacts. When Google syncs my personal contacts, they show up as "Google". So technically I have two separately syncing groups of people. The only thing I have to pay close attention to is which type of contact (Google or Phone) I set up, when adding contacts via the phone. It's very different from what I'm used to, but i can deal with it, and feel that I'll like it better this way in the end.
