Welcome Mr. Olemiss (I love it)!
Regarding tethering, "technically" the service isn't offered but instead they offer a data card. From what I've heard the last few weeks, tethering the traditional way has been cut off or blocked. I can't speak on the Hero as far as tethering goes, but it is a solid device I must admit....IF you must do touch screens.

I, like MsCooley, have heard that tethering has been disabled across Cellular South. I doubt that it will be possible for the HTC Hero or the Tour. With that being said, I suggest you upgrade to the HTC Hero! Check out the thread about the phone. Though it hadn't been released quite yet, it has a lot of things going for it! If instead, you want something thats you KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt will hold up, I would have to recommend the Tour.
Todd from wabo/buckatunna. Been with cell south for about 5 or so years now.
