First impressions and questions on the Tour
So now that we officially have the device and after a full weekend worth of play...what's your beef and what do you like most?
Beef:
- Location of the charging port is bout to drive me crazy
- Don't like the process of removing the trackball. Literally have to take the device completely apart.
- Possibly battery life though I'm still evaluating that one. This weekend's experience could have been a result of 1X/3G bouncing which is normal for where I live. At the office in Cleveland (3G area) all day today, so I can monitor that better.
Like:
- Feel of the device, speed, and reliability. Add the Otterbox Commuter case and....durability.
- Memory galore in spite of over 25 3rd party apps!
- Trackball seems flawless
- Makes me feel like an executive (grown up) as did the 8830.
- It's not a Pearl. LOL

Personally I've never liked the port being on the side of any blackberry. I like ports to be on the bottom.
It's not a Pearl. LOL

ah, haha! After having this little guy for a year, I think this will be my "Like" for any new device I get.
I've never owned a Pearl or any suretype device. I never could get to that point.
Cooley, are you getting used to the WE style keyboard? You like it better than your curve?
I just ordered a Tour for one of my employees, switching over from a razr, which he often thought was confusing. This should be interesting.
yeah the 8830 was by far my favorite device (typing wise), so yes. all is gravy!
My battery life hasn't been great but I think it's because I never put it down. I love the larger screen and the fact that I can play Youtube full screen. Coming from a Curve I had to get used to the keyboard but it has been no problem. I love the speed of this phoe and all the memory.

good. i thought it was just my battery. in comparison to the 8330, this is not as good as i thought/heard. i could go all day (7am-6pm) without putting it on charge with heavy use and still be at 75% by the time i got into my car to head home. with the Tour, i'm barely swinging at 50% by 5pm with little activity. at home where i have serious data bounce it's worse than that.
is anyone's "l" starting to randomly click? sounds like the keys on the curve.
It's not a Pearl. LOL

that's a plus for me and I even own one =P
WELL people, after the long wait, the Tour has to go back to the "shop". My "L" key has started clicking horribly and I found on crackberry.com that this is indeed a membrane/board problem:

Gee, Kyle. Thanks. I have a new Tour as of 20 minutes ago, however I am a little "icked" because they made me do a full warranty rather than just exchanging it. I'm reinstalling everything right now.
silence is bliss? they're killing us over on the hero thread... they've got 6 pages! we're still on one... lol
The Hero is a better phone, hands down. I know about 5 people that have switched from the Tour to the Hero and they're loving it!
Better for you, not all. I'm praying that my employees don't start wanting the Hero. I have several people that are "novice" smartphone/computer people that need to stick with Blackberry because it's easy and it works. My biggest nightmare is having to manage 10 Heros with "dumb" users. IMO, the Hero is not for the average person. Some technical knowledge is needed to keep it running properly. So, I wouldn't call it "better."
BTW, just ordered 2 more Tours on my business acct. It's like a spreading disease, ha. "Ooh, cool phone. I want one."
