First impressions and questions on the Tour
okay well I left the curve, went to the Hero, and now back with a Tour.. at this point the only thing that keeps me from leaving bberry is the bbm. The speed is horrible, especially going to the net. To me it seems this tour is slower than my curve was. GPS is a joke, it does not compare to Hero's gps.. and yes I was using google maps. Am i missing something on the gps and browsing speed?
I'm pretty sure the GPS won't work on Google Maps alone. I never could get it to work on my Pearl. You'll have to get a lock with BB Maps, or another app, first. Then, launch Google Maps. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
You are correct asmith, it has to do with google maps not sending a confirmation packet(computer term) to the gps device... I also responded to this same exact question on crackberry and also explained that the data is in fact a newer technology EVDO Rev A and is indeed faster.
Thanks guys, it makes sense what is happening but when using my Hero I didn't have to go through all this. What gives with the bberry? And why is the browsing so slow?
