wifi connection failure suggestion

I was very frustrated yesterday when I brought the new hero home and it wouldn't link up with my home wireless network.  After some reading and trying different things I did get it working.
Seems that the HTC refuses to have anything to do with 802.11n! 
I changed my Belkin wireless router to 802.11g to see if that would help, but at first got nowhere.
Then I turned off the mobile network and it connected to the wifi perfectly after I entered the "key".
Once connected to the wifi I turned the mobile network back on, and it has continued to connect as it should with the wifi connection when I turn on wifi.
Hope this will help someone because the other forums indicate this has been a problem with HTC Hero.
