Picture sending PHONE to another Phone
I cant understand why more of you are not voicing complaints and demanding C-South FIX a thing as simple as sending a picture message from one phone to another......Or is the Hero so new and complicated you havent figured that out yet ?? Trust ME YOU WILL........YES THEY ( customer service will say you can EMAIL,FACEBOOK,FLICKER etc your pictures........YET this very complex and wonderful device CANNOT send a simple picture from one phone to another called MMS. And Yet I see NO ONE ELSE COMPLAINING ????? Bluetooth file transfer is another shortcoming but that one doesnt bother me as much....
DO NOT ALL OF YOU take a snapshot and quickly send it to family or friends to THEIR PHONE ??????? You mean to tell me you all send the EMAIL and wait for ther person to respond ???? Thats what C-south thinks what we do !!!! PErsonally I love it when my daughter sends an immediate picture of my grandkids in the act !!!!! DO WE NOT ALL DO THIS or just me ???????
I don;t think thats the case........If we do not ALL collectively JOIN TOGETHER and VOICE CONCERNS to C-SOUTH, they will be very happy to take your hard earned $$$$$$$$ again for a new phone in the spring that WILL send picture mail phone to phone....
The PHONE IS CAPABLE as demonstrated by SPRINT NETWORK, For some unknown reason C-South has crippled MMS in the newly released HERO......
IF you were UNAWARE, Consider yourself now INFORMED and TAKE IT TO THE TOP on the contact us web page at C-South web site. Don't bother calling customer service or tech support...you will be wasting your time as most have no idea and are misinformed....
Here is the LINK to CORPORATE TAKE IT TO THE TOP........VOICE your CONCERNS about lack of MMS, No Bluetooth File transfer, No Camera Flash.......ALL of this is or should be easily resolved in prrogramming......IF NO ONE COMPLAINS......Well just shell out more $$$$$$$ later..

Wow at all the additional punctuation and caps! Well... it was made obvious prior to the release of the Hero that MMS was/is not available at this time. Maybe you should have purchased another phone if that feature is so critical to you? I'm sure they will enable MMS (on the Hero) as soon as their infrastructure can support it.
Edit: And I for one take offense to this: "Or is the Hero so new and complicated you havent figured that out yet ??" Excuse me, but I for one was FULLY aware of the lack of MMS capability prior to purchasing mine! WOW at all the flaming heat in your post.
I am sure a lot of these issues will be resolved with the new 2.0 platform. For now if you want to send pics you can copy and paste it to your e-mail and send it.
honestly... I've never sent an MMS message, nor have I had the desire to. I send many SMS messages everyday, just never have had the need for it. Sorry your frustration had created such hostility. Like someone else said, maybe you don't need a Hero.
I was aware that it didn't send MMS before I purchased the phone. I figured people could send emails and I can open up emails with pictures, word, powerpoint, and PDF files right from my phone. I've received a few pictures via email and it's pretty instantaneous. I get alerts whenever I get a new email. As a matter of fact, I can send instant video to the internet - I find that rather impressive.
Though I'd like to see MMS and Bluetooth Transfer added to the features list, I don't really see it as a deal buster. When I can do everything else, I don't miss that feature I use once a year - I find a way around it.
To say it shortly: I love my phone!
Obviously YOU havent bothered to READ the MANUAL which DOES state it will send MMS........But i am sure YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT with your superior knowledge ...
I,m not the one running the TV ADS comparing the Hero to the Iphone !!!
For those of you who never send an MMS sure no big deal.......you have probably never owned a blackberrry or smartphone before either. MY POINT IS THIS ! A phone of this great design, someone forgot the basics.
I really do not know anyone who doesnt sent a picture instantly via MMS..........sure email works....thats not the point......I should not have to utilize email to view a simple picture on a phone of this caliber.....
HERO MMS ?? DID YOU even BOTHER to READ page 79 of the USER MANUAL ????????? PART 4 is the problem

This forum will not end up like crackberry. We understand your frustration but flaming will not be tolerated here. Have a good day.
For you to assume that someone has probably never owned a smartphone just because they don't use MMS is pretty amusing. In fact, I personally know people that get a blackberry without a data plan at all, just to be able to use the nice keyboard for SMS. Your approach about this matter is only going to bring more negativity with the way you're handling it. You can't expect satisfying answers to a problem by ridiculing people that don't feel the same way you do.
The problem is not with HTC. The phone is capable. Obviously, there is a network issue that CS is unwilling to compromise at this time.
I can understand the frustration of not having a feature that you care a lot about. For a year, I fought with a BB Pearl and it's inability to connect to GPS satellites... very frustrating. Just try to take a different approach next time, and lighten up on the unnecessary sarcasm and insults. I think you'll be much happier with the response you get.
It's Fairly OBVIOUS this site is nothing more than a mouthpiece of how WONDERFUL things are at C-South.....FIRST you stated the phone WAS NOT MMS capable and now reverse direction and state it actually is MMS capable but Csouth infrastructure isnt supporting it at this time ........daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..........
What I DO NOT CARE FOR is YOUR attempt at disguising and hiding real issue's with the phone. Perhaps you work for c-south for all I know......BTW I KNOW of NO ONE who purchases a blackberry for the key board.....THAT SIR is a joke and you know it.........I have heard of censorship here previously of which I want NO PART OF......EITHER PRESENT BOTH SIDES HONESTLY or continue hiding the truth. Your replies say a LOT MORE about WHO and WHAT you are then MINE. FLAMING ?????? Because I stated the camera sux, battery life is horrible and no MMS......THAT IS THE TRUTH AND YOU KNOW IT......Go ahead and delete me .......I will make sure your one sided approach is widely known. Otherwise LEt this stand and BE HONEST about the PHONE. I for one am very tired of CORPORATE RIPOFF's to make XMAS SALES.
The phone is new and has bugs.....POINTING that out is not flaming. Not that I ever expect this to be posted but you will never survive blowing smoke .....the TRUTH has a way of coming out.....
wow.
Like I said, I personally have friends that use bb's for SMS/keyboard
purposes, with no data plan. What's the point of arguing with me about
that? I'm not sugar coating anything, I am not hiding anything, and I do not work for CS. I'm just trying to help.
OK THANKS .....I will now backoff........but HONEST and Accurate information is a must.......TOP C-South REP just informed me the HERO ,
is more of a youth phone into facebook, myspace, flicker etc and will probably never support MMS......a version 2 software android os is unlikely for the CSouth Hero per this rep. Will it make me go back to the Blackberry Tour ?? probably not........much better browser on the Hero.....The Hero DOES have positives as well as the negatives I have been so vocal about.......What made me angry is Lack of Honesty by CSouth reps and so called technicians who know nothing. Seems the more likely scenario is a spring release of another android phone with many improvements......Applications are a huge bonus for this phone AND GREAT PLANS. In the end run I will likely keep it .......but at least for now it seems I have finally gotten some honest answers from a competent c-south tech.

I like your enthusiasm, AJ. We are here to present both sides, but while presenting both sides, we've got to respect others as well. I will agree that I am starting to wonder how much this phone can actually do, myself. I have to do battery pulls about once a day to keep the phone from lagging to the point where it's completely dysfunctional. I also wonder, and am slightly doubtful, if we'll get the Android 2.0 update. And, admittedly, I do sometimes think the phone is more of a toy than a smartphone.
On another note, if there's one thing that I've learned over the past year, its that C-south techs are about as informed from upper-level management as you and I. I am hoping we can get some C-south upper level guys around here soon!
Finally, I have a friend that went from Bold, to the Tour, and back to the Bold because of the way it felt in his hands. Once some get comfortable with their phone, it's hard to get them to change until they feel as if the phone is totally outdated.
I do appreciate your posts, but be sure to keep it respectful of others!
Josh
Also, I'm curious as to where you've heard about censorship here before....

Hmm... maybe there's something actually defective with your phone? I've not once had to pull the battery on mine (as I had to do very frequently with my old BB). Mine is still running as it were out of the box. I've also got a healthy share of apps running as well.
Maybe this is an issue you could address with CS. They may warranty it for you.
I've never had to pull my battery either, but I do occasionally reboot it just to keep it "fresh". Took it to california on a business trip last week and it was exceptional. I don't consider it a youth phone at all, i'm 30 and it actually has far more support for my exchange and other business needs than my blackberry ever did. I watched a coworker at lunch the other day have to pull the battery 3 times on his storm2, and he's a computer technician.
As for MMS, i've never bothered with it to begin with on ANY phone i've owned as most people in this day and age have email or you can just show it to them. MMS is so Motorola Razr ;)
Yes, i'm partial to Hero because i actually like my phone. I get good battery life, never lags, and has incredible features. It is a linux OS, once I got into that mindset it has been a dream. I'm really sorry that so many people seem to have trouble with theirs, maybe it's not for you? If you're not happy take it back and I'm sure cellular south will get you something that fits your needs.
