Android 2.* Update
Ok...I did all that yesterday and did not get an error on the e. step...in fact I worked all the way through all of those steps...except for k.....DOH...lemme try again...:)
OK...I did the "hold vol down while powering on" step and chose recovery by pressing the home button...the phone rebooted and now i have a triangle with a ! in it and picture of a phone I guess...does this indicate my gold card is not good?
I am thinking about next time I am in Hattiesburg meeting up with one of the guru's on here like Kyle or someone and getting them to root me. Lunch will be thrown in. :)
Thats a good idea....any "rooters" in the Tupelo/Saltillo area let me know...:)
@asmith
how do you like darchdroid rom? any problems? I cannot get the audio problem fixed with bittersweet, wish i could, but there seems to be no fix for it...let me know of any quirks as I will probably flash it this weekend....
I'm still looking for someone in Memphis to help me root my phone.
I'm tired of waiting for the realease.
Jerry
I love it. It's very quick and stable. The only problem I've had is a data roaming issue. I went to Dallas/Fort Worth for several days and had NO data coverage. I lost 3G when I got 30-40 miles into LA, then lost 1x when I got past Shreveport. Then I had to rely on wifi... not cool. This isn't a real issue for me though, because I don't leave our calling area very often.
Does anyone here have any opinions of the HTC Touch Pro? All this waiting for the update and then my failed attempt to root my Hero has me about ready to dump the Hero.
David : I was checking to see what is the lastest update you have on the Release date of the Android 2.1 for the HTC Hero 6250. Will R: Let me send you the latest information we have been given. David : ok Will R: There are unique qualities for each carriers software update, and we are thoroughly testing the software to ensure everything will be working properly for you at the time the update is released. Due to some performance issues in the areas of SMS and MMS messaging we will not be able to release Android 2.1 by the end of June. We are requiring that these issues be fixed by HTC before we release the Android 2.1 software to our customers. The software should be available for download by mid-July
Will our update come through on a custom rom, and allow us to install it? If so, will that unroot our phone?
Probably an update done from a download. It will more than likely unroot the phone. I am just hoping we get it by monday.
This may have already been covered in this thread but I've not found it yet.
I'd heard that the 2.1 update would wipe the Hero clean when updating deleting your contacts and calendar appointments along with any apps installed basically leaving you with an out of the box phone. Anyone else heard this? Anyway to back up the contacts data from the phone to PC?
On the contacts they should sync with your Google Account. I would make a backup before updating though.
OK...its July 12th...where in the hell is my android update?...:)
I sent a text to them thru TextCS and mentioned that I had heard it was supposed to be released today. This was their reply. If anyone finds out anything else, please post here.
From Ginger: We are sorry at this time there is a delay of software release. We do not have an ETA at this time.
Kind of strange that they typed it like they were from India or something. But thats what I have.
The issue is the 2.1 update from HTC isn't playing nicely with MMS from the text I got and webchat I had this morning. I am as anxious as everyone else but would rather wait on a stable and polished 2.1 than one like "someone" else released that their customers had problems with. I am just hoping it's released before I go to Orlando on the 23rd. I am looking forward to the turn-by-turm GPS.
@hcm228 - Cellular South's support is in the US. I believe it's probably a pre-scripted text as I'd bet they've had tons of these request today. I feel bad for the discovery center guys.
Any GOOD news?
