I want this bad. I probably want this more than I want 2.1 now. 3x the performance boost would alleviate any of the seldom annoyances I have with the phone which all boil down to occasional lag. Whenever this trickles down to the community i WILL root my phone if I have to!

Agreed!!! As soon as my phone hits the 1yr mark, it will be root'ed. This will be the first thing modified!
I am new and all of the pros and cons to the Hero has me wondering about it i have the Touch Diamond right now and it has been a decent phone except for the battery power and it is also slow.
Does anyone know anything about the Nexus One and if cellularsouth will ever get it. I know when i got my touch diamond it was not to long before the Hero came out. Does anyone know of any other phones that might be coming.
Good call on the Nexus One, it is a good phone by all accounts. As far as putting it on cellular south, apparently CS has stated that it won't allow unlocked phones on the network but if anyone here has activated their own phone before then it seems you should be able to do it with a little know-how.
Back on track, the beauty of Dalvik Turbo is that supposedly EVERYTHING that works for original dalvik will run perfectly. I know that's the holy grail of software upgrade promises, but if it's true that would mean every android device out there could get a huge boost in performance. This should excite more than just Hero users for sure.
