Overlay on End button peeling?
Is anyone else having this issue? Basically, the little icon on my Power/End button has started peeling off. Right now it looks like an umbrella. I did a google search, and it appears that quite a few Sprint Hero's are doing this. I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue and if Cellular South is going to do anything about it. Thanks.
This happened to me in February. I'd only had the phone since December so I went to my local CSouth Store to see what could be done. They guy there got my # and said he'd check on it and give me a call. I thought I was just being blown-off, but about a week later he called and said it was a known issue and they would replace it. He e-mailed me directions on what to do and the very next day my replacement was delivered. I've attached the document I was e-mailed.

Seems to me that you're submitting your phone for replacement, but at your own risk! Sure they're sending a replacement phone, but chances are you'll be charged if the powers that be determine that the damage doesn't qualify for replacement...
True. CSouth has to do that so everyone doesn't just try to get a replacement at the least little thing. However, the peeling overlay issue is covered. They even sent me a receipt showing I would be billed $0 and I got a text & e-mail confirming the same.
I'll give them a call then. Thanks for posting that warranty information. Glad to hear that they are standing behind it.
Was your moisture indicator on the inside of your phone red? Mine is red, but it has never been wet, ever. I do carry it in my pocket though. They are trying to deny the warranty based on this only. The phone works perfectly fine, and is in perfect condition other than this manufacturer's defect. This is extremely aggravating...
They also tried to tell me that my last phone (a BB Curve) was denied warranty because of the moisture indicator being red. It had the same life as this phone has had. Never wet, always in a case and well taken care of. But I carried it in my pocket as well. They told me that was the problem, and that you couldn't carry these phones in your pocket...
my end button is wearing off too. are they doing something about this? kind of unsightly, it's not like a major malfunction but i've done a good job of taking care of the phone so it's annoying.
I think mine was a little pink looking (white/red checkered pattern), but they didn't give me any fuss about it.
so did they swap the whole phone out? i'd rather just get the button replaced if possible.
Yep, they're replacing the whole phone for me as well (after some complaining on my part).
At least they care enough to make it right. I couldn't believe they were going to do that. I know AT&T would have just told me to deal with it.
Actually, this problem can be avoided (for a longer time at least) by using your finger instead of your finger nail to push the buttons (Especially the back button). The end button, on the other hand, is very common to ware down over time (the SEND button as well, but it is used VERY much less than the end button).
They replaced mine back in December in the store. No questions asked... I showed it to them, and they chunked it in a bucket and gave me a new one in the box. I got my memory card, of course.

I had this same problem...My son got a hold of my hero and chewed on it and got the little spot red. When i heard about the warranty about the buttons i brought it in there and they said they couldnt do it. I told them, if you take apart the phone, you will notice that everything is nice and dry and hasnt been damaged my water or moisture. They told me they dont care, that if that spot is wet they wont honor the warranty. They did, however, say that i could send it in but most likely will be charged a full phone replacement fee, which is total bs!
