Nifty little device
I picked one of these up for my 17 year old niece (yes, im a loser because i bought her yet another BB) and its 'cute.' feels cheap as predicted, track pad is nice and honestly wish i had it on my tour. only problem so far is that battery life sucks. this is evident by my niece and two friends who purchased last weekend. with wifi and b-tooth off and little use they barely make it a half of day.
LOL you take very good care of your neice
I've configured two of these for employees. IMO, the only good thing about it is the trackpad. It feels very light and cheap in your hand. The battery door just kinda snaps on and seems like it will break easily. And the screen is pretty bad. I knew it would be smaller, but it's quality is bad too... it actually looks blurry next to the Tour.
Sorry to be such a downer, but I was not impressed. I would probably pick the old curve over the 8530, honestly.
ur not being a downer
" I picked one of these up for my 17 year old niece (yes, im a loser because i bought her yet another BB) and its 'cute.' feels cheap as predicted..."
remember, this device was popularly labeled as a low end device even prior to it's release.
Lol, I picked one up last week. It does feel cheap compared to some of my older berries, in the past (8830, 8330). But its still a good phone; indeed the battery life is horrible, but I plan on buying an extended battery ( http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innocell-Extended-BlackBerry-BACY26BB8520-BK/dp/B0033ETVE6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271349607&sr=8-2
) since I am a heavy user. The keys feel cheaper but the touch pad is incredible and very smooth. The web browser speed is awesome even better when wi-fi is on. So far not too many bugs ran across a problem with my notifications on Ubertwitter (3rd party app for Twitter) it caused the status light to stay on constantly, but got that resolved by tweaking some options on the program. The GPS in this device is also very sharp. Overall, I highly recommend it!

So, my husband and I both got the 8530 a couple weeks ago and while I don't love it as much as my 8330, it's a decent device. True, it does have that cheap-y feel but I gotta say, I completely agree with mrgq about the track pad - total awesomeness!
While I've had no problem with battery life, my husband has. He would be down to 30% before 4:00 in the afternoon. I suggested he do a battery pull, he did and now his battery lasts all day.
mrgq - please let me know about that extended battery should you decide to order it...that might be something my husband would be interested in.
Have y'all downloaded the Blackberry Twitter app? I never thought I'd use anything other than UberTwitter, but I'm using it and lovin' it!
