Can a sprint/alltel phone be activated on the Cellular South network?

I can't find a straightforward answer on this. It seems to me like there wouldn't be a problem considering some phones are the exact same model.
Well I assumed that much. Why though? Any ideas?
Because Cellular South wants your money. If you get a phone somewhere else, they are just giving you service. They are penny pinchers. I do see this changing, because Cellular South brags about how they offer the Hero, which is going to become obsolete very soon. (Some consider it is already) What esier than to allow any CDMA phone to be used on thier network. Seems logical to me.
