How will the 2.1 update be released?
Here is what I want to know. Are they going to release it over the air (Which means right on your phone), by RUU download (Hooking your phone up to the computer and updating that way) or by having to take your phone into the store and they do it ? If someone has a buddy that works at Cellular South, ask them and see, because when the 2.1 update comes out, you will have to wipe your phone (It's not really something you can avoid when updating your Firmware on android) So, with that being said, I don't really think they will do it over the air. I don't really think they will do it in the stores because they would end up wasting a TON of time because they will end up
paying employees to do something the customers can do on thier own. What do you think?
I was talking to a friend at work that has the eris from verizon, and while he still hasn't gotten his 2.1 update it seems that it is going to be an OTA update for him. I would probably like a downloadable update just to make the process faster though.
I think it will be through download. That would make it faster. I am not looking forward to losing all my stuff though.
Sad enough i heard that CS has a RnD but HTC wont give the GO for CS, they have it but not official.
well the sprint hero update was supposed to happen soon and it looks like it is being pushed back too. Also I do remember reading somewhere that the update will need to be downloaded on a computer and that it wipes everything but sd card. If so that sucks but maybe it will be like the joy of every few years when I reinstall windows...........maybe
I get most of my information from the rss feeds of these sites:
android guys
android central
android tapp
phandroid
Its a pretty efficient method for getting my daily android fix. I also have an rss feed setup for androlib which literally notifies me of every app the site tracks when it is added to marketplace. So basically i get over 500 hits on that feed every day. Most of the apps are crap but it is a pretty easy way to check new apps coming to the market.
