Blackberry messenger automated message?? Confused?

ok today while i was at work i received a blackberry message. I checked it and it was from a friend. This is the exact message that was sent to me (Were sorry to inform you, but do to the increasing amount of members using blackberry messenger, the system server can not withhold the amount of data being transmitted. Our server is currently being upgraded and we hope to have it running to its full potential by july 2010. Until then we ask you very kindly to help us with this misfortune by limiting your contacts. Please copy, paste and send this brief message to the contacts you use on a regular basis. The contacts  that you don't send the message to will be automatically deleted at 11:59pm ET on june 5, 2010.  We sincerely apologize for this and have in return  set up $20 dollars on your online account for blackberry accessories.) I thought this was a joke from my friend because some of the words are misspelled but the message was in the color purple not the regular black. I asked my friend and he said he did not send it. So what is up? Am i the only one to get this message???? I'm really confused ha.
