Is there a step by step instruction guide on how to root the showcase, how to make a recovery, and how to install voodoo? All the ones i find are kinda hard to understand. This whole thing is new to me and Im scared to brick my phone.

Ok this is what I have done:

I downloaded and installed Z4root on my phone.
Opened the app and applied the root.
After I applied the root I downloaded "OCL" (one click lag fix) from the market and applied the lag fix.

I did not install any custom roms because with the lag applied to android 2.1 I get a quandrant score of over 2100 making it the fastest mobile phone.

So if i do it just like you then is there any need to worry about making a recovery or bricking my device?

Well you can't make a recovery unless you root first. It is extremely unlikely that you will brick your device using z4root. I can not say the same thing for the one click lag fix. Just make sure you get the current version of both programs and you should be good. May ask what your primary reason for rooting is? I have attached a picture of my showcase quadrant score, which i ran with out closing any apps.

Why do you want to root? The route you take depends somewhat on what you want to do with your phone once you've rooted.

I want to root to get rid of the bloatware and have more control over my phone and speed my phone up

Let me know if you have any questions.

edit: btw, some of that info may be a little outdated, I'm not sure. It will get you going in the right direction for sure
